Your Mental Health Partner:

Shinichi Daimyo

My practice is based on this core premise: every person has the ability to create a life that has deep significance and achievable meaning.

I believe therapy can be a safe place to explore what is hard, face what most weighs on us, and tap into how strong we can be. I believe psychiatric medication, when personalized, understood, and rightly chosen, can be incredible tools to aid this journey.

My style is rooted in insight and narrative therapy, and integrates humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment, systemic and interpersonal based approaches. My approach drives towards making idealism realistic by unleashing our imagination on making the impossible possible. I encourage living in laughter, expressing joy, deep introspection, and aspirational accountability throughout our process. These practices lay the foundation for deep healing and transformative change.

Growing up as the child of Vietnamese and Japanese immigrants in the boat refugee community of Los Angeles, I experienced first-hand the consequences of stigmatization and inequity on the well-being of communities fighting for a better life. These experiences are the foundation of my 20+ year career providing mental health care to those who are often forgotten, and core to my commitment to providing my patients care that is centered on being heard, understood, and affirmed.

I’m a devout dog person who loves 2 cats (Droplet+Babs), an unapologetic elder emo, and still convinced at age 40+ that I can dunk a basketball. I’m a practical optimist who believes in our power to expand the bounds of our imagined potential to create great beauty and joy even in the midst of our hardest moments.
